I photographed this pheasant on a stormy day while cycling through the Kalverpolder in the Zaan region. In the middle of the meadow I spotted him sitting there — calm, alert, and completely undisturbed while the wind swept across the open landscape. For a brief moment he stayed still, allowing me to capture this special scene.
